PREPPER AND STITCHER TAXIDERMY
To be successful as a taxidermist, you should be detail-oriented and knowledgeable of animal anatomy as well as health and safety regulations. Ultimately, an outstanding taxidermist should be able to maintain concentration for extended periods, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and ensure that clients are satisfied with the taxidermy pieces created.
This position requires sewing skills, and attention to detail, being creative when dealing with holed skins or severe damage to others.
To be successful as a taxidermist, you should be meticulous and knowledgeable of animal anatomy as well as health and safety regulations. An outstanding taxidermist should be able to maintain concentration for extended periods, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and ensure that clients are satisfied with the taxidermy pieces created.
DUTIES
- Collecting, inspecting, and preparing the skins and hides that are too be used in mounting.
- Ensuring, that prepping work is completed on time, and communicated to the mounters, as to avoid delays.
- Communicating with the treatment and prep section, informing them of orders and timelines.
- Using sewing skills to close holes in the skins, assist with rectifying drumming on mounts.
- Stitching and closing of mounts, with care, as to give the best look and feel to the mount.
REQUIREMENTS
- Sewing and needling experience.
- You will have to be creative, and detail orientated with a high level of patience.
- You must have knowledge of animal anatomy.
- Must be analytical and be able to problem solve.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Must have good hand eye coordination.
- A good and positive attitude towards fellow staff and company.
